Kania Maniasa – journey has been shaped by a sense of purpose. Growing up in the US as a Balinese-American, having left her beloved island at the tender age of 10, she always felt a deep connection to her roots and a responsibility to give back. Enrolling in a life-changing American education system made her wish that more Balinese children would also have the same opportunities as she did. Feeling a sense of freedom that she could choose whoever she wanted to be, and receive acceptance no matter what she chose to explore – she wanted every kid to have that opportunity. So, after successfully graduating from George Mason University, she made a resolute decision to return to Bali and make a meaningful difference in her community. The importance of education has always been a core value in her family. Her parents, who themselves made significant sacrifices by leaving their homeland to work in America, instilled in her the belief that education is transformative. Their journey inspired her to pursue a career in education, and today, she proudly holds the position of Executive Director at the Green School Foundation, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to bring education on sustainability to Indonesian students. Through her work, she has the privilege of extending the part of her that fervently believes in the priceless value of education. She firmly believes that education is not just a solution; it is one of the most potent tools we have to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges. It’s a journey that continues to inspire and drive her forward every day.
