Democratizing Forest making
When Shubhendu made his first forest, it was with his own family in his own backyard. He did this because he was inspired by his recent meet-up with Dr. Miyawaki, a Japanese Botanist who came up with a method of growing a biodiverse forest 10 times faster than with conventional reforestation techniques.

Since then, Shubhendu launched Afforestt, a company that specializes in creating dense multi-layered native forests using the Miyawaki method. So far, they have created more than 130 forest patches across 50 locations, including forests in the US, Netherlands, Singapore, Pakistan, Iran, Japan, and Nicaragua.
Their philosophy is to make their knowledge open-source, as we can have a bigger impact if we do it together.
This leads to the launch of Junglo, which was initiated by Mo, a former Green School teacher, and Chayton, a GS alumni, who attended Afforestt’s online forest-making course and became forest makers themselves. Junglo is on a mission to make environmental action accessible to everyone by allowing anyone to recover the lost ecosystems of Bali and beyond.
