Toward a More Just and Open World: Investigative Reporting and Global Collaborations – Jeff Kelly Lowenstein

With accurate information and truth being under assault in countries around the world, investigative reporting is arguably more important than ever. This presentation and dialogue will talk about the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism, a non-profit organization that brings together reporters, visual journalists and data scientists to carry out ongoing projects on key global issues.
Jeff Kelly Lowenstein is an investigative journalist, author and the Padnos/Sarosik Endowed Chair of Civil Discourse at Grand Valley State University. He is the founder and executive of the Center for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ). His work has been published in The New Yorker and the Center for Public Integrity, among many publications, and has earned national and international recognition. Jeff has participated in national and international fellowships about racial justice, the environment, health, business and trauma. A Fulbright Scholar, Specialist and Teacher, he has written or edited six books. He and his wife Dunreith, a writer and educational consultant, live in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
