Green Stone Sharing Session 2023-24
September 11, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
As our graduates enter their final year we come together as a community to support the preparation for their Green Stone presentations in June.
The Bridge is hosting multiple meetings, and in each of them, 5 students will share their path, and their challenges, and we will have the opportunity to offer them guidance, suggestions, and most of all love and strength in such an important period of their lives.
A requirement for every Green School graduate is a capstone project, known as Green Stone. Green Stone is a year-long inquiry and process where students demonstrate a mastery of core skills and Green School skills. This can be a passion project, an area of interest, or a solution to a real-world problem. The Green Stone experience culminates in a 13-minute TED-style talk the week before graduation. It is a life-changing experience and prepares every student for their next adventure and arguably for the rest of their life. Green Stone is a process and an experience that not only develops skills but also provides a platform to demonstrate mastery of those skills.
Projects For This Day
Made – Cultural Adaptation
What is Balinese culture today? For my Green Stone, I want to explore the changes that happen within culture, in particular Balinese culture. I want to share the young generation’s perspective of Balinese culture by making a photobook. In this project, I want to see how other young Balinese adapt to these changes and photograph it.
Where do I need help? I need a camera to get started and someone who could help me give suggestions on my shots and the way I tell the story.

Gede – Saba Asri turtle conservation
Working alongside Saba Asri Turtle Conservation, our goal is to preserve the turtle population for the betterment of Bali’s ecosystem. Our efforts extend beyond this, encompassing the crucial task of raising awareness about the pressing threats that turtles are currently facing. Furthermore, we aim to enhance the conservation initiatives, contributing to their improvement and ensuring a positive impact for all stakeholders involved.
Where do I need help? Financial support, marketing, social media management, project manager, data collector, and photo/videographer.
Mady – Discovering my Balinese heritage through pottery
My project is about discovering my Balinese heritage through pottery. Pottery is one of the oldest art forms of Bali and has been a part of my family’s heritage for many generations. unfortunately, pottery has nearly become a hidden art and this makes me more passionate about reliving one of the most beautiful forms of art. I want to discover, explore, and connect with local potters and most importantly I want to create a story.
Where do I need help? I think it would be great to connect with someone who has knowledge about Balinese art history. (specifically pottery)

Kahu – Gosha
My main Idea is to create a brand to do good. I want to make a fashion brand where I design the clothing and work with the local community such as local tailors so I can support the community around me, I also want to work with an origination where I can give people opportunities, I have thought about working with the poverty issue in Vietnam with the Vietnamese street kids or other origination.
Where do I need help? Getting a finalized idea of what good I want to do with this project. and to figure out What it means to do good with a business.

Hartley – Towel Boy: The power choices hold, and educating the consumer
For the past 8 years, I have run a sustainable clothing company called Towel Boy. At Towel Boy we take second-hand, or as I prefer to say, “pre-loved” towels, and repurpose them into garments. I work with all local and ethical companies, and if any material is not fully sustainable, it is always made locally. I want my Greenstone to serve a couple of purposes. The first purpose is to show the journey that I have gone through with Towel Boy, the trials and tribulations, and the hard decisions, and hopefully inspire people to make a change themselves. The second goal is to shed light on how bad and large the fast fashion industry is, and how we all have the power to make change in just the choices that we make.
Where do I need help? I would love to get feedback on my project idea, don’t have anything specifically I need help with.
