Going Deep with Seaspiracy: A Discussion with the Filmmakers and Dr. Sylvia Earle – Elavation Barn
May 25, 2021 @ 11:00 pm - 11:55 pm
Seaspiracy has shocked millions of viewers by shining a light on the environmentally negative impact of the global industrial fishing industry. The film also shows how humanity’s fish-eating habits are fueling widespread and catastrophic destruction of the ocean. As it climbed to Netflix’s coveted Top Ten list, the documentary stirred controversy and invigorated environmentally-minded people to take action. For many, this documentary has changed the way we see the ocean, our eating habits and our perception of the global industrial fishing industry that previously has not been so thoroughly scrutinized on such a widespread, public level.
On May 25th, 2021, Dr. Sylvia Earle is sitting down with Seaspiracy filmmakers Ali and Lucy Tabrizi and Max Bello, International Ocean Policy Expert. Will Travis from Elevation Barn will be moderating and leading the discussion that will touch on the problem of overfishing, issues around seafood sustainability certifications, the connection between overfishing and climate change, concrete ways that we can help and much more.
There will be a Q&A at the end of the webinar, where the panel will take questions that are submitted by the public on the Zoom registration page in advance of the broadcast.
This webinar is hosted by Mission Blue in conjunction with Elevation Barn, and is the first in a series of ongoing discussions about overfishing and related issues
