Extreme Explorations of Both Our Inner and Outer Worlds – Dr. Lawrence Blair

We are thrilled to have our graduation speaker, Dr. Lawrence Blair, coming for a short session with the parents this year just before the graduation ceremony.
Dr. Lawrence Blair is an explorer, filmmaker, author, and public speaker on the peoples and creatures of Indonesia. A resident of Bali he has assisted and led marine expeditions throughout the archipelago together with his brother Lorne Blair

The Blair’s astonishing adventure began in 1973 with a six-month voyage aboard a pirate schooner through the barely-charted seas of the Spice Islands. Over the following decade, in eight further expeditions – to Java, Bali, Borneo, New Guinea, Sumatra, and many more of Indonesia’s 14,000 volcanic islands – they ventured into some of the remotest and least hospitable regions left on earth.

Their intimate encounters with the vanishing masters of tribal wisdom were to lead them from a physical adventure into a deeper, more personal quest of self-discovery. From these adventures, they created the documentary Rings of Fire, an exciting voyage through the world’s largest and least-known archipelago – the exotic, mysterious islands of Indonesia.
