When Women Thrive, the Earth Thrives – Women’s Earth Alliance

When Women Thrive, the Earth Thrives. And when ecological restoration and community liberation are woven together, conservation becomes self-sustaining.

Join Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA) for a powerful conversation exploring how over 100 grassroots women leaders from 28 provinces of Indonesia are building power across the archipelago. WEA Women are redefining conservation and growing regenerative economies. We believe that ecosystems and communities thrive together—and that true climate resilience begins by investing in the frontline women already protecting the Earth.

In this session, WEA leaders will share their frontline stories of ecosystem stewardship, including:

  • The Leuser Ecosystem (Aceh): Raihal Fajri will share how Indigenous women successfully advocated to amend conservation laws, securing their customary rights to forage and launch sustainable non-timber enterprises (like palm sugar and pineapple fiber).
  • Peatland Forests (Central Kalimantan): Yun Pratiwi will share how women and youth in Simpur Village are restoring degraded peatlands, preventing fires, and acting as a vital buffer against palm oil expansion.
  • Coastal Resilience (Central Jawa): Tri Astuti will share how community leaders are stewarding coastal ecosystems to protect both land and livelihoods.

Working alongside a trusted network of local partners—Katahati Institute, Himba Raya Indonesia, Balwana Bumi Lestari, and Pratisara Bumi Foundation—we will share how building sustainable livelihoods alongside grassroots advocacy is the key to lasting transformation.
