WORKSHOP – Hold onto your kids – Merissa Turner
November 21, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 10:15 am
An event every week that begins at 8:30 am on Thursday, repeating until December 12, 2019
In this workshop, we will tackle one of the most disturbing and misunderstood trends of our time…. peers replacing parents in the lives of our children. The dangers of having our children looking to their peers for direction, for a sense of right and wrong, for values, identity, and codes of behaviour. Peer orientation undermines family cohesion, poisons the school atmosphere, and fosters an aggressively hostile and sexualized youth culture.
Through the lens of developmental science, we will find solutions that will move you back into the driver’s seat and leading your children.
Merissa Jennings-Turner is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, a Trauma Therapist, and Parent Educator. She is a mother to a 16-year-old and a 10-year-old and has been married for 23 years. Merissa believes that the mind and the body are intimately connected. The complexity of who we are as human beings require an expanded paradigm to healing. A wider lens that looks beyond the presenting issues, her approaches are informed by Dr. Gordon Neufelds developmental science attachment model, Clearminds in-depth psychology frameworks and family systems theory. Mark Wolynns Inherited generational family trauma and Dr.Peter Lavines Somatic model in healing trauma and stress at the nervous system level.
