WORKSHOP – Fashion Design Class (7 Sessions) – Thea Anema

An event every week that begins at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, repeating until March 17, 2020
Let’s design a capsule collection consisting of a mood board, color, fabric, and designs for their target audience by the end of the course.
This course is for you who want to learn the fundamentals of fashion design.
#1 (4 Feb 2020)
-Design introduction. -What is a design concept?
-Where do we get inspiration?
#2 (11 Feb 2020)
-Who do you want to design for.
-Your target audience demographic/psychographics
(Who is he or she, what are her activities, where does she go? What does she do? and what are the needs for her wardrobe.)
#3 (18 Feb 2020)
-You will make;
-Mood boards and collages (why and how?)
We will discuss;
-fabric and color according to your mood board.
#4 (25 Feb 2020)
-You will combine what you learned in the above mentioned lessons;
-Review demographic, mood boards and fabric/color story.
#5 (3 Mar 2020)
-You will learn about proportions;
-We will make a 9-head croquis (design template)
-You will practice drawing on your personalized template
-Making sure your sketches match your fabrications.
#6 (10 Mar 2020)
-You will learn how to put a capsule collection together;
-Number of items, tops versus bottoms and it’s versatility.
-The importance of cohesiveness and editing.
#7 (17 Mar 2020)
-We will work on and finalize;
-Five complete outfits
-review each others collections.
By the end the student will have a clear idea who they are designing for, they’ll have a mood board, a personalized croqui and a five look collection.
Thea comes with an extensive resume, having worked over 30 years in the fashion industry. Amsterdam, Paris and foremost NYC. My experience is in high end, fast fashion, everything in between and have covered all categories of design from start to finish. I was for 5 years the senior design professor at the acclaimed Pratt institute in Brooklyn and held the position of VP of Design for three companies simultaneously in charge of design, home decor, technical and advertising.
CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS.
We are welcoming a maximum of 20 participants for this course. Please place your booking as soon as possible to ensure a spot. We understand that sometimes things happen. If you need to cancel your ticket we will give you a refund, less a US $50 admin fee 2 weeks prior to the start date of the course. Within two weeks of the course, no refund will be available, we will instead give you a credit note, less an admin fee of US $100, that you can use to participate in a future course.
