Cornucopia – Unravelling Siddhartha’s Words – Guy Mullens
April 25 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Who was Siddhartha, the prince turned monk, and what did he really teach? What words did he use? What set him apart from the other teachers of his time and how come he is he still revered today, often seen as the ‘founder’ of Buddhism?
The profound insight of this man, the great recluse, as he is referred to, seems to have largely been forgotten. Indeed, in Siddhartha’s name, many philosophies have sprouted, but what part, if any, of these undertakings, have anything to do with the original teachings of the man called ‘the Buddha’?
These questions and many more will be addressed during this interactive talk.
Having studied the Sutta Pitaka and the Abhidhamma at a certain length, as well as having had some practical experience of the so-called ‘eightfold path’, Guy feels it is important to shed some light on Siddhartha’s words, his teachings and their original context.
