PANEL DISCUSSION – Towards a plastics waste-free Indonesia by Circular Recycling – Dutch Indonesia Trade Mission Delegation

This interactive talk takes you from the essence of the plastic waste crisis in the world, Indonesia and Bali in particular to a break-through large-scale circular post-consumer plastic waste recycling solution. As part of an inter-governmental partnership on Climate Change, Waste Management and Circular Economy between the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management, an expert delegation of Dutch professionals and entrepreneurs is in Indonesia to collaborate with governments, companies and entrepreneurs active in the plastic waste management/circular economy space.

The talk will open roads of hope and solutions to a plastic waste-free environment by converting waste into resources and developing markets for recycled plastics. The presenters welcome everybody interested and look for connecting and exploring with Indonesian, Balinese and international stakeholders (business operators, experts & entrepreneurs and investors) further steps towards realizing this global goal on Indonesian ground.
Martin van Nieuwenhoven (Dutch Min. of I&W)
Senior policy advisor and coordinator for circular economy and international cooperation at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. He has been working for 25 years on national and European waste and circular economy policies and regulations and develops international cooperation projects to implement the Dutch circular economy program and the national waste management plan.
Elsbeth Roelofs (MVO NL)
Senior program manager Chemical Business at MVO Netherlands, the largest sustainable business network in Europe. She is responsible for the development of national and international projects focused on sustainable value chains of Dutch chemical companies (including plastic producers and recyclers). Besides that she develops and manages national and international projects related to establishment of circular economy worldwide.
Silvia de Vaan (SweepSmart)
Former BCG consultant-turned-social entrepreneur on a mission to solve the waste problem in emerging & developing countries. She is founder & CEO of SweepSmart, a Dutch-Indian start-up which provides zero waste solutions to municipalities, companies and NGOs in Indonesia, India and beyond based on European waste management best practices reinvented to work in the local context.
Jaap Vandehoek (Umincorp)
Co-founder and CEO of Umincorp. Jaap has a broad experience in technology development, process engineering and business development in the waste recycling industry.
