Cornucopia – The Cost of White Privilege (and What to Do About It) – Andy Horning
May 9 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
For those uninitiated in the understanding of white privilege and our white supremacist culture, it can be an uncomfortable experience. Join us as we look at how owning our white privilege can undo racism and be a force for positive change in ourselves and in the world. Further, minimizing the advantages whites have in our world at the cost of people of color, can lead to a kind of emotional fragility. Come learn concepts, language, and techniques to understand what “whiteness” means. We will hold it all with the courage to look at hard truths and the love and compassion that allows us to keep exploring.
Andy Horning has facilitated workshops and personal growth retreats for the past 10 years with the Hoffman Institute, based in California (www.hoffmaninstitute.org).
He has also spoken at the University of Michigan on White Privilege and ways to understand and fight this new kind of racism. He and his wife Genny are raising two children Campbell 13 and Mackenzie 11 at green school and are originally from Boulder, Colorado.
