Spark Talk – Our Educators Take the Stage

June 8 @ 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Our Spark talks showcase educational innovation and passion. These are our very own TED-style teacher talks, where our educators share their approach to learning and their personal journeys. This limited ticket event will be your chance to hear and see live, some of our educators as they take the stage and share their wisdom, thoughts, opinions, experience, and expertise on teaching, learning, and life.

Tickets will be limited but the event will be videoed so no one will miss out.
The event will be on live streaming also, please register below.

This is going to make you think, warm your heart and open your mind!

Let’s celebrate our educators together!

Our rockstars of the night:

Nicola Unite – Head of Middle School

“Change the Way You Breathe to Change the Way You Learn”

Values-based learning can be abstract. How can we guide our students to find deep connections and meaning for themselves so that integrating values becomes a meaningful practice? An integration that guides them towards living a values-driven life.

.

Jaclyn George – Middle School Coordinator

“The Chicken Coop Is Enough”

Empathy is what educators all around the world strive to achieve through their teachings. Students need to feel empathy and not just read about it in books. By teaching from the chicken coop, we can foster empathy by reframing our relationships with the more-than-human world. “The chicken coop is enough” for teaching to the whole student.

.

David Purcell – Middle School Literacy & Thematics Teacher

“Thinking is an Action”

Green School likes to talk about developing critical thinking ability in our students – but what does that mean in action? Pak Dave will lead us through a critical thinking skills workshop and explore the complex, fascinating and frustrating manner in which we gain and apply knowledge of our world.

.

Kyle King – Head of High School

Emily Ferguson – Curriculum Advisor

“Building Curriculum for Peace, Justice and the Planet”

“What? You mean Green School has a curriculum?” Truly transformational teaching and learning require a shift in the way we think about the idea of curriculum. Emily talks about the why, what, and how of building a curriculum for peace and the planet.
