SOCIETY WEEK – Green School Involvement in Regenerative Farming – Tim Fijal
November 5, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 11:00 am
This presentation takes place through a guided tour of Subak Uma Lambing, an irrigation area nearby Green School where KKC is partnering with local farmers to achieve shared goals. Learn about regenerative farming methods and the reasons why this work is not only critical to preserving Balinese traditions but also why it aligns with the Green School mission.
During the tour, you’ll get an understanding of the importance of engaging locally as well as an open door to experiential learning about regenerative agriculture.
Tim Fijal is the director of Kul Kul Connection, Green School’s local engagement project. He started Kul Kul Connection in 2012 with the intention to align Green School more meaningfully with its values and mission seeing local engagement as foundational to fulfilling the original vision for this community of learners. He was compelled to move his family from Vancouver, Canada to Bali to join the Green School community in the instant he heard John Hardy utter the sentence “Green School students don’t learn about the rice cycle, they LIVE the rice cycle.” Tim and the KKC team have been working with local farmers for the past few years, realizing shared goals, and bringing the international community of Green School outside of the confines of our beautiful bamboo campus to connect with local farmers in their place of practice.
Donation: IDR150,000. (all the money will go to support the local farmers) | Max 15 people
