SKILLUP – SYNAPSE: How to work Smarter, not Harder, through academic challenges – Christine Marshall, PhD
August 22, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
SYNAPSE introduces seven steps proven to help learners manage their attention, cognitive load, sleep, and stress. Rooted in the fundamentals of neuroscience and buoyed by the power of storytelling, SYNAPSE frees learners from negative thought cycles that can undermine progress when stuck on a problem that seems “just too big.”
You will learn the seven steps of SYNAPSE and understand how to implement them for yourself.
Christine earned her doctorate in neurobiology and behavior from Columbia University in 2004, continuing her research at Harvard Medical School before joining the faculty at Phillips Academy in 2008. Christine’s research background inspires her work at Andover, where she’s led the Independent Research Program, designed interdisciplinary electives, and further developed the core curriculum. A Tang Institute Fellow since 2016, Christine has been afforded the time and resources to develop her SYNAPSE toolkit and assess its impacts. Consistent with Andover’s ethos as “a private school with a public purpose,” Christine is now working to share SYNAPSE with the broader educational community.
