GSPA TALK – Raising Children in a Digital Age – Merissa Turner
November 1, 2019 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm
The digital world is here to stay, changing our society in a way that has far-reaching consequences for our children. Parents are left questioning, how much is too much and what boundaries should I be putting in place to keep my child safe.
The GSPA will be holding a 30-minute video presentation from a leading developmental scientist and attachment theorist around raising children in a digital age, followed by an open discussion.
Merissa Jennings-Turner is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, a Trauma Therapist, and Parent Coach. She is a mother to a 16-year-old and a 10-year-old and has been married for 23 years. Merissa believes that the mind and the body are intimately connected. The complexity of who we are as human beings require an expanded paradigm to healing. A wider lens that looks beyond the presenting issues, her approaches are informed by Dr. Gordon Neufelds developmental attachment model, Clearminds in-depth psychology frameworks and family systems theory. Mark Wolynns Inherited generational family trauma and Dr.Peter Lavines Somatic model in healing trauma and stress at the nervous system level.
