CROSSING THE BRIDGE: The Life I Want – Christine Bader
June 19 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Green School parent Christine Bader opened the Bridge in August 2018 with her talk, “The Year I Learned to Quit.” Since then, in part with the inspiration and support of the Green School community, she developed and launched her new project with Eva Dienel called “The Life I Want” (https://www.thelifeiwant.co/): a storytelling project about the individuals, organizations, and communities reimagining work so that it enables the lives we want rather than sticking us with the lives we’re stuck with. Join Christine to close out the school year with a discussion about this inquiry — and about your stories, frustrations, and aspirations for building the life you want.
Christine Bader examines the role of business and works in our lives and societies. Her most recent adventure in the world of full-time work was from 2015-17, as Amazon’s first director of social responsibility. Her 2014 book, “The Evolution of a Corporate Idealist: When Girl Meets Oil,” chronicles her career in corporate social responsibility with BP (formerly British Petroleum) and the United Nations, and weaves in the stories of peers in some of the world’s biggest and best-known companies. She has delivered a TED talk, taught business and human rights at Columbia University, served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year and a teaching fellow in community service at Phillips Academy Andover, and written for many publications including The New York Times and The Atlantic.
