Why We Need to Rethink About Fashion – Slow Fashion for The future – Aparna Bhatnagar Saxena
April 21, 2022 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm

The world of Fashion is one of the largest sources of waste and oppression. However, it is also something that is integral to our lives. We need a bottom-up and a top-down approach to rethink Fashion. And it can start with the triad of “conscious consumers – conscious producers – regulation”. The change can start with us, if we start relooking at our relationship with fashion by asking – what we buy?, why we buy? And how we can think again about how to buy again?
Aparna Bhatnagar Saxena is an unapologetic feminist, a vegan, an environmentalist, and a student for life. An Indian, now based in Jakarta, she has lived in 4 countries in Asia. She is now a social entrepreneur and has worked in start-ups, SMEs, larger corporations, and impact businesses. Each of these experiences has helped shaped her journey to where she is now. Under her leadership, TORAJAMELO aims to cement its identity as a slow ethical lifestyle business that works on the environmental, social, and cultural sustainability of indigenous and artisanal communities of Indonesia while evolving as a business that takes concrete steps toward regenerative and restorative supply chains.
