The SAUS Initiative is On; Making Sibang More Beautiful Together!

Our village walk was inspiring! Join us next Monday to discuss our next steps to make Sibang beautiful for all.
The Sibang Asri Untuk Semua (SAUS) initiative is on! On Monday, March 10, a group of 15 parents and staff from Green School went on a 2-hour walk around Sibang Kaja to kick off a series of conversations on how we can have a more positive impact on the campus surroundings. It was an inspiring Jalan Jalan for GS grown-ups!
We were guided by Gungde, the grandson of the king of the village, who shared a bit about the structure, management, and legal aspects of the village, as well as its history since the first settlers. Did you know that the temple down the road is about one thousand years old? These conversations were certainly humbling and helpful to put things in perspective.
We were also joined by Ellie, who has been trying to implement a waste collection system on the streets around her farm across the river. Her experience sparked conversations about the challenges of addressing the trash issue and the importance of adopting a participatory and culturally relevant approach in any intervention we wish to have in the village.

On Monday, March 17, we will continue the conversations at Green Warung. We will share our perceptions and identify areas for collective action. Come join us! The meeting is open to everyone!
