Pechakucha Evening – The Road Less Traveled
October 2 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
An evening for the grown-ups, with amazing food from Bambu Indah, a bar and most importantly, storytelling from inside our very own community.
Some people take the road less traveled. Some of those people are right here in our community. They are ready to share their stories and you need to get your hands on a ticket now!
This is a ticketed event only and tickets are open now for 290kpp, until 12am Tuesday, 1 October at thebridge.greenschool.org
The event is inspired by the Pechakucha format, where stories are shared through 20 images, each image auto-advancing after 20 seconds. Four speakers, 400 seconds each, they tell their story. Our storytellers include Sarid Harper, Joseph Stenz and Seda DePuy (Grade 12).
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference” Robert Frost
Thanks to our fabulous friends at Bambu Indah for sponsoring this event which is in support of The Living Bridge project. Enjoy a luxurious selection of canapes from Tembaga Restaurant as we watch, listen and engage with the storytellers. A drinks bar will be open for this adults-only evening.
The Speakers:
Sarid Harper
Sarid – My journey into technology and finance began in Denmark. I loved writing and understanding computer viruses, which led me to focus my attention on offensive computer security and software development. Over the past 20 years, I’ve performed security assessments for major global companies, particularly in the private, government and financial sectors – and along the way, I developed a deep understanding of speculative markets. Today I combine what I learned in the past and keep learning in the present, to design and develop automated and discretionary trading systems for both retail and professional traders.
Joseph Stenz
The man who dances with fire!
As a child, he already found the figure of the “travelling entertainer” enchanting …and since his first encounter with the art of fire dancing during a trip through Australia, this artistry has accompanied him through life – first of all as passion and play, then as an intensive confrontation with the element fire and its fascinating power.
The school of life
There is no actual fire dance school, so Joseph did that which he anyway loves to do – “learning by doing, in action”!
The element fire and life itself were his teachers in developing his art. He was further supported by a creative exchange with professionals at international fire art festivals. Joseph is, as well, a trained Pyrotechnic with diploma.
The drive
The inner drive – his enthusiasm for the magic of fire – impels him to continually develop and expand his fire show. An impressive spectacle, an artistic expression of the power of fire has emerged!
Through his unique performances and repeated presence on TV, Joseph Stenz has become one of the most sought-after and best known fire artists in Switzerland!
Seda DePuy
I’m Seda, a 17 year old in my last year at Green School. Though my parents are American, I was born in Bali and grew up here- Green School is the only school I’ve ever been to.
This is an in-person event, happening at The Bridge
Get ready for our PechaKucha series, brought to you by The Bridge, in support of the new Living Bridge!
A new physical collaboration space, a new virtual connecting space, and a new take on cross-community connections at Green School Bali.
The Living Bridge is all about giving students and parents more opportunities to connect, collaborate and activate good things. Students have been in the driving seat from the start of this project, under the mastery of Jonathan Mizzi, a renowned Biophilic Architect and Green School parent. This project is a celebration of the rich past, vibrant present, and promising future of Green School. It embodies the very essence of experiential learning.
By attending the Pechakucha event, you’re not just supporting The Living Bridge—you’re unlocking opportunities for students and enriching the parent community experience. Together, we’re building a gateway that bridges the gap and creates a vibrant, connected space for everyone.
Want to dive deeper into the Living Bridge project and help shape our learners’ transformational journey? Join us at this incredible event, and don’t forget—all bar profits will go directly towards making this dream a reality!
