We understand we are an international community – with varying voices, but we have never been afraid of making space for sensitive topics. We hope those who can, will feel motivated to participate and be part of this open dialogue. We are all learners. Let’s learn together.
We are inviting different members of our community to be part of a panel discussion.
Dimas “Dimo” Sigit Pambudi, a gender-queer misfit humanist and human rights activist against the governance of the State of Indonesia. His stances on several national issues such as Papuan Separatism, LGBT Rights, Religious Minorities, Agrarian Reform and Environmental Issues, has made him repeatedly subjected to physical persecution, threats of kidnapping and murder. He was a president of Critical Thinking Community Yogyakarta and has been active in educating gender issues in Green School Bali.
Soma has been working at Green School off and on for seven years. He was away to manage a volunteer project in West Papua, to travel, and to pursue graduate study. Having lived in different cultures, he has learned to be open to new perspectives and outspoken for what he believes.
Kania Maniasa is a Balinese who moved to the United States to follow her parents pursuing a career as a journalist in Washington D.C. As an immigrant, she was exposed to the working environment at a very young age. Working her first part-time job at a county library at age 15. Academically, Kania won the Ambassador Award for Excellence, graduated university with Summa cum laude as a Senator of the Student Body. After 12 years of living abroad, Kania felt the need to come back to Bali, to give back to the community and make an impact towards the future of her island through her role as Chief of Philanthropy and Development at the Green School.
Ida Rahayu is a Teacher at Green School Bali since 2012. She is originally from Java and has been living in Bali for over 10 years. Ida started learning about Permaculture in 2016 and finished a one-year Graduate Certificate of Permaculture Design in 2017 with Central Queensland University, Australia. From then on, she became passionate about Permaculture and joined more courses at IDEP Bali and Kul Kul Farm.
Adam Handoko moved through multiple international schools since the age of 11 before graduating Green School in 2015. He was previously educated in Indonesian schools. The reconciliation of his Chinese-Indonesian identity with his multicultural exposure is a puzzle that he continues to ponder, while continuously shaping his perspectives on Indonesia’s relationship with its own heritage when faced with a multitude of foreign influences.
