Interwoven Struggles – The relationship between Trauma, Addiction and Eating Disorders

Trauma, addiction and eating disorders are deeply interconnected, and usually a response to extreme stressors or complex trauma. This talk examines the relationship between these disorders, and offers evidence based tools for the treatment of the root causes of this symptomology.
Alexis is an experienced psychotherapist with a Masters of Counselling, A MSc in Addiction Studies and a special interest in Eating Disorders ( MSc Eating Disorders and Clinical Nutrition). She also has lived experience of alcohol and substance use, complex trauma and eating disorders. Alexis practices at Promises Healthcare Pte Ltd in Singapore as a member of the addictions team, is responsible for aftercare services at Highlands Recovery Australia, and is a member of the Expat Therapy Hub Specialist Community.
