Green Stone Mingle – Come and Support our Grade 12 Students

As our graduates enter their final semester we come together as a community to support the preparation for their Green Stone presentations in June.

The Bridge is hosting multiple meetings, and in each of them, 4 students will share their path, their challenges and we will have the opportunity to offer them guidance, suggestions, and most of all love and strength in such an important period of their lives.

A requirement for every Green School graduate is a capstone project, known as Green Stone. Green Stone is a year-long inquiry and process where students demonstrate a mastery of core skills and Green School skills. This can be a passion project, an area of interest, or a solution to a real-world problem. The Green Stone experience culminates in a 13-minute TED-style talk the week before graduation. It is a life-changing experience and prepares every student for their next adventure and arguably for the rest of their life. Green Stone is a process and an experience that not only develops skills but also provides a platform to demonstrate mastery of those skills.

Morgan Semone – The Coffee Journey
Originally my plan for my Green Stone is to create a coffee business but quickly developed and flourish into a more dynamic Green Stone. Currently, my Green Stone is developing a coffee business while tackling and understanding the process of turning the coffee plant into a cup of coffee. My Green Stone tackles several aspects both locally and internationally relating to the coffee industry. Understanding the current issues that local farmers face through interviews of coffee farmers. Learning more about the international market for coffee while understanding how a global issue such as COVID-19, Climate Change, and NFTs affects the global market for coffee.

Where do I need help? I need help finding myself accountable to my greenstone and what I set out to do.

Leo Canosa Cavestany – From Idea to Reality – Filmmaking
Green Stone means time for me to work on my passions. I’m going to be presenting the film/films I did during this time. I will be explaining my experiences, progress, process, results, and a reflection about the films I did and what I learned.

Where do I need help? Taking the film ideas I have into realities, into films.

Eamon O’Connor – Creating a Community Through Music
After going through several iterations of a music-based Green Stone, I have decided to use this time to establish myself and my music by professionally recording a collection of songs that reflect my 10 years in Bali and Green School. My Green Stone message highlights the community that music can create in difficult times like the pandemic. I am also teaching marimba to high school students with no prior musical ability as part of my project. My end goal for this project is to have finished songs on streaming services, learn more about marketing myself as an artist, a short clip or music video to accompany my song as I am a filmmaker, and be able to perform some of my music at the WOAH festival or other venues.

Where do I need help? I need help finding my exact message for this Green stone. I feel like my ideas may be messy and I would like to explain my points and values in a clean way without being confusing.

Akshara Reddy – Animal Conservations
I have a passion for conservation, for the past 3 years I have volunteered at different animal conservatories, so I would like to apply my knowledge to build a firefly nursery on campus. I have reached out to many mentors but would love to brainstorm ideas with others. I am also reducing my waste as much as possible, because of everything I’ve seen, like straws in turtles’ noses, I realized that I am contributing to that problem, how am I going to change the world without changing my habits first.

Where do I need help? I would love connections to other conservations on the island that I can go volunteer and work with the animals. I’d also love to learn more about the research aspect of conservation.
