Graceful Awkwardness – Andres
May 20, 2024 @ 9:30 am - May 22, 2024 @ 12:30 pm

“The figure that we know today as a clown has been present in human groups for thousands of years. It is a necessary role in any healthy community and embodies the medicine of the contraries. It is the one who does what is necessary to be done in order to maintain balance. His actions are not necessarily funny but a quest to remind us of the diverse and multifaceted nature of our soul. In this way, clowning helps us embrace the complexity of our being and our communities, seeking harmony. To achieve this, this dancing being of the chaos takes risks, listens, plays, allows itself to take things not so seriously, doubt, break… The clown plays with death: either living so intensely that every moment that passes becomes a “little death” or, on the contrary, inhabiting the deepest void where nothingness makes room for life to dance freely. This sacred fool does not play tricks to show herself, but allows the comunity to see her in absurd, ridiculous, uncomfortable places; She gives us permission to laugh at his darkest desires and her strongest beliefs. She allows herself to be consumed by the atrocious fire of collective laughter so that only what is essentially necessary remains: a being in the tireless search of vibrating in love.” “Graceful awkwardness” calls to everyone willing to explore the immensity that can be opened through learning how to be comfortable with the unknown. The unknown, in clown language, is an unpredictable space that one can create through sharing vulnerability, which overcomes the defensive mechanisms of our known patterns. Letting ourself be seen in these hidden corners of the self can feel like walking on a tigh rope. As we keep walking together, we might find some stability and unravel liberation and creativity for our paths. This is an invitation for you to join this workshop and get in touch with the fundamentals of the clown medium that can serve you as a tool for your own artistic journey and certainly for your own personal growth. Come as you are; no experience required.
