Equity Cultural Circles – Session 1
September 18, 2024 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am

Being part of a diverse community such as ours presents a unique opportunity for expanding our perception and understanding of our world.
The Equity Action Parent Group and GSPA invite you to seize this opportunity for personal and social transformation by participating in a series of dialogues on equity-related issues that will culminate in an actionable local project.
The Equity Cultural Circles consist of four meetings over the semester in which we will:
- Experience the “world reading” methodology developed by the Brazilian educator Paulo Freire to spark processes of awareness-raising;
- Take part in aesthetic conversations (wow! What do you mean by that?) on equity-related topics;
- Engage in the collective planning of one transformative action defined by the group.
The circles will be facilitated by GS parent Priscila Ramalho, who has worked with the Freirean pedagogy for almost 20 years in diverse formal and informal educational settings. Priscila holds a PhD in Education from Columbia University and an MA in Development Studies from Erasmus University.
Join us in this deep and transformative process that will expand our understanding of equity issues in our community!
Circle 1: Introducing the methodology (September)
Circle 2: World Reading (October)
Circle 3: Aesthetic dialogue (November)
Circle 4: Collective action plan (December)
This talk is happening at The Bridge, but we will Livestream it also.
