Bella Galhos  – Co-founder of Leublora Green Village

Bella will share her riveting life story starting from her childhood during the civil war, exiling to Canada, returning to her country after independence, to serving as the advisor to the President of Timor Leste. In the past few years, she has been spearheading initiatives in sustainability and human rights to create a new paradigm for the fledgling country.

Bella founded the Leublora Green Village (LGV) in Maubisse, along with a not-for-profit environmental school. This includes a women’s organic farming cooperative and an organic restaurant. She has delivered TED Dili talks on issues including violence against women as part of feminist campaigning in Timor Bella is a prominent activist for LGBT+ rights in Timor Leste. At the CODIVA (Coalition on Diversity and Action) Pride Event 2016 (the first of its kind in the country), Galhos became the first woman to publicly come out as bisexual. In 2017, Galhos was co-organizer of the first Pride March in Dili, attended by 500 people. Together with her activist colleague and development expert Iram Saeed, Galhos founded the LGBTQ organization Arcoiris (Portuguese for Rainbow)

Robin Lim – Founder of Yayasan Bumi Sehat

Ibu Robin Lim CPM is a Filipino–American midwife, mother and grandmother, and founder of Yayasan Bumi Sehat, a non-profit organization in Indonesia. Lim also serves on the board of Bumi–Wadah Philippines, where she is known as “Lola Robin.” Her Passion is Human Rights in Childbirth. She believes that each individual is an essential “Piece of Peace” therefore by protecting the mothers in childbirth and the newborns (our smallest citizens of Earth) we may build peace, one Baby, one Mother, one Family at a time.

In 2006 the Alexander Langer Foundation honored Ibu Robin as the Premier Alexander Langer. In 2011 Ibu Robin was chosen CNN Hero of the Year. This gave Midwife–to–Mother care a broader popular platform, worldwide. In 2012 APPPAH, The Association for Pre and Perinatal Psychology and Health, gave Ibu Robin the Jeannine Parvati BirthKeeper award, and in 2016 she became Earth Company’s Impact Hero.

Bumi Sehat – The mission of the Bumi Sehat International Foundation is to reduce maternal and child mortality and support health and the development of a wise society. To achieve this goal, we provide general health services, emergency care, prenatal care, postpartum and childbirth and breastfeeding support; in addition, it also provides youth health and education services, environmental and disaster assistance programs.

Aska’s career revolves around the areas of climate change and disaster relief in the Asia Pacific.  She has managed disaster relief efforts after the 2009 Samoa Earthquake and 2011 Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, served as the Vice President of a climate change NGO in Tuvalu, and worked with MIT’s climate change crowdsourcing initiative, Climate CoLab.
